  | The specific UNESCO program "Education for children in need" exists since 1992 and helps children at risk to go to school and have better chances for their future through vocational training.Each year, the special ambassador Dr. h.c. Ute-Henriette Ohoven, travels to different countries where children live in dire conditions. She meets children of all kinds, takes them under her wing, supports them and helps them as much as she can: The teenager in Sarajevo who lost both of his legs due to the war, a small boy in an African refugee camp who has spent his entire life behind barbed wire, children wandering the streets of Bucharest who survive the winter thanks to the sewers, a girl aged ten in Guatemala who already has a baby, a child with mental disabilities in Bulgaria languishing in an orphanage without care or love. www.unesco-children.com | ||||||||||||||||
